Announcing My Etsy Store & Custom Closet Design Workbook!

5 min read

A walk-in closet can look simple from the outside: shelves, rods, drawers, shoes, done. Then the planning starts, and suddenly every inch matters.

How much hanging space is enough? Where should drawers go? What deserves open shelving? How do you make room for shoes, bags, folded clothes, accessories, and the things you actually reach for every day?

That is exactly why I created my Walk-In Closet Design Workbook, now available in my new Etsy store as a digital download.

This closet design workbook is for the planning stage, when ideas are exciting but decisions can feel scattered. It gives you one place to gather measurements, think through storage needs, review feature options, and make clearer choices before buying organizers, calling a contractor, or starting a DIY closet project.

Why I made this custom closet design workbook

Custom closet design planning is one of those projects that can get overwhelming fast. Inspiration photos help, but they do not always answer the practical questions.

A beautiful custom closet still has to work for real life.

I wanted to create something that sits between a blank notebook and a full custom design service. The workbook helps you slow down enough to make good decisions, without making the process feel complicated.

It is meant to help you:

  • Take useful closet measurements

  • List what you need to store

  • Notice what is missing in your current setup

  • Think through hanging, folding, drawer, and shoe storage

  • Sketch layout ideas before committing

  • Keep project notes in one organized place

The goal is not perfection. The goal is a closet plan that fits your space, your wardrobe, and the way you use your home.

Using the Workbook with Closet Design Clients

This workbook is complimentary for my design clients because it is meant to enhance the experience by providing a structured yet flexible approach to their projects. They can complete the workbook - or use it as a basis for research and reflection - when they start working with me.

For clients outside my service area or those opting for a DIY approach due to budget constraints, this workbook serves as an excellent starting point.

What is inside the digital workbook

The workbook is designed to guide you through the planning process step by step. Instead of jumping straight to shelves and finishes, it begins with what matters most: your space and your belongings.

You can use it digitally, print it at home, or add it to a project binder. Since it is a digital download, you can start using it right away after purchase through Etsy.

Inside, you will find planning pages that help you think through the details that are easy to forget, including:

Closet goals

Write down what is working, what is not, and what you want the finished closet to feel like.

Measurements

Track the width, depth, height, door placement, corners, outlets, windows, and other details that affect the layout.

Wardrobe inventory

Break down what you own by category, so your design supports your actual storage needs.

Storage planning

Think through long hanging, short hanging, folded items, drawers, shoe storage, accessories, handbags, laundry, seasonal items, and more.

Feature Offerings

Review common rod/hardware finishes, door/drawer styles, and other features that are mandatory or just nice to have.

It is practical on purpose. A closet can be pretty, but it also needs to make mornings easier.

Who this workbook is for

This workbook is a good fit if you are planning a walk-in closet and want more structure before you start making purchases.

It can help if you are:

  • Starting a closet makeover from scratch

  • Planning built-ins or semi-custom storage

  • Comparing DIY closet systems

  • Preparing for a conversation with a designer (like ME!), installer, or contractor

  • Trying to make a small walk-in closet work harder

  • Organizing a shared closet and need a clearer plan

It is also helpful if you love collecting ideas but have trouble turning them into next steps. Saving inspiration is fun. Turning that inspiration into measurements, categories, and layout choices is where the real planning begins.

The workbook gives you a simple way to move from “I have lots of ideas” to “I know what I need to plan.”

Why a digital download makes the process easier

I chose a digital download format because closet projects often happen in stages. You may measure one day, sort clothes another day, then come back later to sketch layouts or compare product options.

With a downloadable workbook, you can print only the pages you need, reprint pages if your plan changes, or keep a clean copy for another closet project later.

That flexibility matters. Closet design usually takes a few rounds of editing. You might think you need more drawer space, then realize your hanging items take priority. You might plan shoe shelves, then remember you also need space for boots, bins, or travel bags.

A workbook gives those changes room to happen before money is spent.

Good measurements make every closet space efficient yet maximized.

How I hope it helps your closet project

A closet project can bring up more decisions than expected. Rod heights, shelf spacing, drawer sizes, shoe storage, storage baskets, lighting, mirrors, hampers, and daily routines all affect the final design.

The workbook helps connect those details to your real habits.

For example, if you wear work clothes every day, short hanging may matter more than long hanging. If folded sweaters take over your current closet, open shelving may need more space. If shoes pile up on the floor, the design needs a stronger shoe plan, not just a prettier one.

That is the heart of this workbook. It helps you design around what you actually own and use.

It also gives you a place to track notes while you shop. If you are comparing closet systems, you can keep dimensions, features, and ideas together. If you are working with a professional, you can bring clearer information to the conversation.

Better planning can save time, reduce second-guessing, and make the finished closet feel more personal.

The Etsy store is officially open

Opening the Etsy shop is a small but exciting step, and this workbook is the first product I am sharing there.

I wanted to create something useful, beautiful, and easy to access. The Walk In Closet Design Workbook is available now for purchase and digital download in my Etsy store.

If you have been thinking about refreshing your closet, planning a new build, or finally making better use of your walk-in space, this workbook can help you start with a plan instead of guesswork.

My shop is open, the workbook is ready, and I am so excited to finally share it. I am working on future design areas, like pantries, reach-in closets, garages, etc, but this is a good place to begin!

If a walk-in closet project has been sitting on your someday list, this is a simple place to begin. Start with your measurements, get honest about what you need to store, and give every decision a place to live.
